Policy & Advocacy

A Strong Industry Voice for Clean Energy

KEREA represents the renewable energy sector in policy conversations that influence investment, standards, affordability and sustainable growth.

KEREA Mandate

Creating an Enabling Policy Environment

KEREA brings together members, government ministries, regulators, development partners, private sector actors and communities to identify policy and regulatory barriers affecting Kenya’s renewable energy sector. Through structured consultations, stakeholder engagement and industry dialogue, we work to ensure that the experiences and priorities of renewable energy businesses and energy users inform policy discussions and sector development.

Our advocacy efforts focus on promoting clear, consistent and predictable policies and regulations that encourage investment, support innovation and create a fair operating environment for renewable energy enterprises. We engage stakeholders on issues affecting market access, licensing, taxation, technical standards, quality assurance and the participation of different actors across the renewable energy value chain.

By strengthening collaboration between industry and government, KEREA seeks to address challenges that limit the adoption and expansion of renewable energy solutions. We also support discussions on removing market barriers, improving consumer confidence, strengthening compliance with relevant standards and creating opportunities for businesses to reach underserved communities.

Through evidence-based engagement, policy dialogue and collective industry representation, KEREA works towards a more supportive regulatory environment that enables renewable energy technologies to grow, attracts investment and expands access to reliable, affordable and sustainable energy solutions across Kenya.
